Quick SEO Tips and Tricks to get your site ranked higher for the Holidays!
Welcome to Thanksgiving week! Black Friday and all the holiday shopping is right around the corner. Is your e-commerce website ready? Can your target customers find you easily using popular search engines like Google and Bing? The truth is, SEO (search engine optimization) is an ongoing project that can’t be accomplished in just a day or two. Usually, the rewards of optimizing your website can take weeks or months to earn a significant rise in rankings. However, here’s what you can do now to help your site rank just a little bit higher for holiday shoppers:
Add new posts frequently.
Add a post to your site about how your products or services make great Christmas gifts. Publish a blog post entitled “Top Ten Holiday Gifts.” When writing your post titles and descriptions, make sure you are helping your customers solve a problem. Don’t just rank things, tell your customer why this is the solution to their needs.
Establish or improve your Google My Business page.
If you have a brick-and-mortar location, creating your Google My Business page is an absolute essential. When a searcher enters your business’s name, a box with your business info appears on the right side of the results page. Why do this? Searcher will find you much more easily and Google will like you. If Google thinks you’re a legitimate business, they will rank you higher.
If you already have one, improve it with photos from your location and positive customer reviews. Double check to make sure all information is correct – phone number, hours, address.

Examine your site’s content.
Take a look at the content on every page of your website. Are there duplications? Is the same content on multiple pages? Do you have thin content, full of keywords and not much else? Google penalizes these common content problems.
Try these fixes:
- Use different product descriptions for similar products. Be very specific.
- Use different levels of sub-categories rather than lumping all similar products into one big category.
- Re-write content on pages that are keyword heavy.
